Notes from the CEO
A Case for Enterprise Zones
As the 2011/2012 State Government Relations Chair for the California Bankers Association, I’ve had the opportunity over the past few weeks to meet with some of our representatives in the Senate and Assembly regarding the proposed elimination of the enterprise zones program in California.
Simply put, it’s a bad idea. Our state needs enterprise zones to spur economic development and create jobs.

I urge you to contact your state representatives and let them know that the enterprise zone program is important. I know these are extraordinary times, but the program is really the only economic development tool we have left and without it, California’s future will be even bleaker.
