Notes from the CEO
Next Economy :: Full Steam Ahead
The Next Economy project is moving right along and another Regional Forum is set for February 17. Here’s a little preview.
I’m pleased to report that through the efforts of the Center for Strategic Economic Research, five distinct business clusters, upon which the project will focus, have been identified. These will be the focus because, according to the research, these areas are where we have or have the potential to have an economic advantage. The idea is that creating jobs, attracting investment and generating new wealth will be more successful in these areas because we’re playing to our natural strengths. Or, I suppose, what have the potential to be our natural strengths. The industry clusters are: clean energy technology; healthcare and life sciences; agriculture and food; communications and information technology, and advanced manufacturing. Right now work is being done to look at how, within these clusters, we can increase jobs and new investment.
I’m excited about the progress of this project. When completed we are going to have a concrete plan to get our region moving in the right direction. This is big. This is important for all of us. I urge you to attend the next Regional Forum on Friday, February 17, from 9 to 12 noon at the Folsom Community Center. RSVP at www.nexteconomycapitalregion.org.
