Notes from the CEO

The Renaissance Catalyst

In October, we celebrated the business leaders who helped  to keep our Sacramento Kings home. Today, they are still working to make sure the other component comes to fruition- the Entertainment and Sports Complex (ESC) in the Downtown core. The Sacramento Kings were the catalyst for a renaissance in Sacramento.

Recently, Mayor Kevin Johnson launched The4000, a regional bi-partisan coalition with the task to promote the numbers: 4000 permanent jobs, $230 million in economic activity in the region, $11.5 billion in regional economic activity over 35 years, among other findings . I encourage you to read “The Renaissance Report”, written by the independent public finance firm Capitol Public Finance Group LLC (Capitol PFG). Cathy Dominico, Managing Partner at Capitol PFG said, “From a pure hard cost economic return perspective, this represents a compelling multiplier effect and strong return on the public investment as measured by economic activity.”

As a community member who wants to see this city thrive and as business person who wants to see our business community grow, that is music to my ears. This project is about regional growth, new possibilities, and bringing the Sacramento Region up to another level- not just downtown. This partnership between the public and private sector is giving the urban core new life and will attract new businesses, jobs and the thriving work force to staff them. Sacramento wants this.
